How to Make Turmeric Tea

Modern medicine is only now beginning to confirm the benefits of turmeric. The active compound in turmeric is curcumin, the spice that gives Indian food its characteristic yellow color. Turmeric is said to help, joint and bone health, aids in the clearing of skin plagued with acne and even heals the scars of bad acne, cuts and burns, headache, fever, diarrhea, bowel irritation and is also currently been investigated for its curative effects in diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. so try it out. If it doesn't help it can't hurt.

Turmeric tea can be made easily and benefits your health if taken multiple times a day.

Lithium in drinking water has 'anti-suicide' effect

I am shocked at this. I hate that some people feel the need to kill themselves. But that doesn't mean you should put lithium in everyones drinking water to save a few.Call me crazy but, I for one dont want anything in my water that god didnt put there himself. I have well water so hopefully I wont ever have to aorry about this in my life time, but it is scary what the world is coming to and that my kids and grand kids will have to deal with some pretty crazy stuff. At what point will people stop trusting that the government knows whats best for us and realize the government is whats worst for us. Dont get me wrong I agree with having a government. But I want a goverment for the people run by the people. Isn;t that what america is supposed to have? I dunno.. maybe im just an insane modern day hippie.

Im not at all comfortale being at the mercy of the government to decide if they should drug my drinking water. I want clean natural stuff.. I guess if they start drugging water Ill learn to make my own water.. Thank God for condensation.

Cats Don’t Take Breath from Babies

Although cats can and do fit into households with infants, some precautions should be taken to make sure all’s well with the infant-cat relationship.

Cats should never be left alone with infants. Veterinarians and other experts recommend placing a screen door over the baby’s room or a net over the crib to keep kitty out when baby is alone.

cats-and-babiesHowever, that has nothing to do with the old falsehood about cats taking air from babies. Supervising cats and newborns when together is just a good safety precaution in general.

Snopes.com classifies the “sucking the wind out of the baby” theory as false. They do caution that a cat could recline on a baby, causing death accidentally and not out of malice.

Numerous sources say that it’s just not possible for a cat to suffocate a baby by taking its breath away with its own.

Veterinary Partner is a trusted, vet-preferred online resource for information about pets. According to them, the myth is just another feline fallacy, perhaps started to explain crib death.

Kidshealth.org says the tale goes back hundreds of years and started with a belief that cats were associated with witchcraft and evil spirits.

Sadly, shelters are asked to take in cats because the belief in the myth is so widespread. If you know someone who still tells this tale that causes great harm to the feline rep, please pass along a link to this post. You’ll perhaps save a feline in the process.

Rose Petal Jelly

I made Rose petal jelly yesterday and it turned out great. It is fairly simple to make and even my kids loved it.

here is the recipe:
1 cup edible rose petals
1 1/2 cups water
juice of 1 lemon
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 package Sure-Jell pectin
Combine the rose petals, 3/4 cup water and lemon juice in a blender. Blend until smooth. Slowly add the sugar and blend well.
Bring the remaining 3/4 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Stir in the pectin and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Pour the hot mixture into the blender with the other ingredients and blend 1 minute. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.

above is a picture of the petals boiling. The smell was devine..

this is a picture of the jelly after I put it in jars

and today I got to sample it and this is it on a sandwhich.

It was delightful. I want to make more to share at christmas time. Maybe in smaller jars. I would recommend rose jelly to anyone.

Victorian Post-mortem photography

I read a while back about when photography was first introduced it was a popular tradition to take pictures of the dead. Gone but not forgotten So when I see these really old photographs I have to wonder how many of these people are dead people?

With some there is no question about the fact that it is a post mortem picture...

In others it's hard to tell that the person you are seeing isnt just sleeping

And still others don't portray death at all. If I saw this photograph below I would assume she was ill and weak and could not hold herself upright.. But I wouldn't assume she was dead. (the girl in the middle is the deceased)

The poor little girl in this photo looks terrified. Can you imagine..

the girl standing n the middle is the dead person in this pic

this one really doesn't have a place in my story other than it shocked me and I felt inclined to include it.. You have to remember that this was the Victorian era when things like siamese twins was kept quiet.

I guess post mortem photography was a beautiful tradition. Tho it seems kind of eerie by todays standards it is still part of our history and provides us a peek into the past.
