A wonderful family weekend

Clarissa call them adventures. Our budget is so tight that we don't get to enjoy too many adventures these days, But thanks to a hard working papa, and the overtime fairy smiling on us we have been able to enjoy a few outings lately and so tonight's post is about our weekend, and the cool fall weather has been perfect for it.

Our adventures lasted all weekend long, and I took so many pictures, I won't share them all with you because I wouldn't want to over share, which is something I am famous for on Facebook. Here is what our weekend looked like.

On Friday, Clarissa, papa, and me went to town, we went to the library, it was Clarissa's first trip to the library, but after watching an episode of Daniel Tiger's neighborhood where trolley took them to the library she played library with her dolls on the daily, so I thought it was important that she see a library first hand, and see exactly what it was all about. So, our trolley.. aka papa's car took us to the library in Aiken where we headed straight for the children's section. There was more there than just books. There were wooden puzzles, and computers, and other activities too, we have decided that we must go back on a day when they are doing storytelling. We just must. Here are a couple pictures of that adventure.

grandkid fun, fun with kids, our girl is growing up, love this child, smart girl, wooden puzzle, library time

a learning adventure, learning , education, family adventure

on the town with weewoo and papa, life off the plantation, reading books

From there we met Hannah, clarissa's aunt, and best friend, and we had lunch at Longhorn steakhouse, It was the first time I had been to Longhorn Steakhouse, and I will likely never go there again unless I can choose anything from the menu and it is free. The food cost too much, and didn't near and well as it should have for the price. (mind you we are on a tight budget so the 15.00 steak dinners were not an option for us, and the things within our budget were not great. If you are a budgeting family, this is not the place to go..) But they did give Clarissa teddy grahams with her kids menu and she and Hannah had a great time trying to toss them into each others mouths.  Longhorn Steakhouse is also home of one of the top 5 most embarrassing moments of my life and you can read about that HERE if you are interested.

We left Longhorn Steakhouse in route to Odell weeks park, the plan was to play on the playground a while, and then walk the track once before leaving. It didn't work out quite to plan, just beyond the steakhouse a wreck had Whiskey road at a standstill in the direction we were going, and hubby impatient man that he is was getting frustrated with traffic, and overthinker, panic attack prone, person that I am, Over thunk it all, and so when we inched up to where the pumpkin selling was happening I asked him to stop in there which we did, Hannah following along in her own car, and they had so many varieties of pumpkins, and ornamental corn, and fall flowers, that it occupied our time for long enough to clean the wreck up and keep everyone calm and relaxed.

grandbaby fun, plantationites out on the town, picking out our fall pumpkins

picking our carving pumpkins, future jack-o-lanterns, jackolaterns

in my day pumpkins only came in orange, pumpkin science, hybrid pumpkin, white veiny pumpkin

With pumpkins purchased our eager crew made it's way on down the road to Odell Weeks to play in the park. Those besties, Aunt Hannah, and Clarissa had the best time ever, and me and Papa Roman had the best time watching and taking pictures of them enjoying their time together,

got to love the lovethey have for each other, best aunt ever, loving these girls

swings at odell weeks, hannah and clarissa, life on the plantation, plantationites goes to the park

the best aunt ever aunt Hannah would move mountains for this precious girl

they need and love each other, no romantic love could hold a candle to auntie niece love

I could write a book about the love these two have for each other and have had since day one. You would think it would be the opposite since aunt Hannah was in the room when Paisley was born, but not!!! These two are closer than close, always have been and always will be, I love the relationship these two girls share, Romantic love knows nothing compared to this auntie niece relationship.

Our adventures for the day stopped here, afer walking 1/4 of he way around he track Clarissa decided she needed to potty so we turned around, and decided as a group that we just weren't up to rewalking tht 1/4th mile again, so we went home and call this adventure a wrap. But we started again on Saturday and that too proved to be a fantastic family day for up all. Look for the details of our trip to the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival in my next, upcoming post.

When I have posted that post I will link to it HERE

until then I hape you enjoy this installemnt of #lifeontheplantation

Clarissa-isms is it a poop or a fart (clarissa explains it all)

I call them "Clarissa-isms" because no one else in the history of my life could do and say these things and still be considered the best thing that ever happened to me.

But let me tell you what she did yesterday!!!

It is a fact... Kids say the darnedest things!!!

I just died a little, poop story, god save the queen,is this thing on?

I'm gonna tell a story that I probably should not tell for fear of embarrassing myself. But if Grandma Eunice taught me anything it was to swallow that pride girl and tell that story if it will put a smile on someone's face or a laugh in their heart. So... Here I go, blushing as I tell you about this adventure with Clarissa.
Clarissa, Roman, Hannah, and I, went adventuring today, and one of our adventures was a trip to Longhorn Steakhouse, It was 4pm so it wasn't overly crowded but crowded enough to make the story I am about to tell... not one of my finest moments..
So, we are sitting in the Longhorn steakhouse, Clarissa and Hannah trying to toss teddy Grahams into each others mouths and Roman and I enjoying their antics. We were munching on some buttered bread they brought us and just enjoying life. When my stomach suddenly started to hurt, and I said "dang my stomach hurts".. To which clarissa responds.. "weewoo if your stomach hurts you need to go to the potty." Mind you the restaurant was semi crowded so I quietly whisper to Clarissa, "Im gonna wait a minute cuz Im not sure yet it's a poop or a fart." To which she replies in her OUTDOOR voice... "If you have to poop or fart you need to go to the bathroom WeeWoo"
So there I am embarrassed and I get up and make my way to the bathroom partially because I'm leaning toward the notion that its a poop, and partially because I'm trying to hide from the embarrassing thing she just said to everyone in Longhorn Steakhouse. Well.. I get to the bathroom, and lookie who has followed me.. The stall is kinda big, and there is no one else following me to the bathroom the get her so what can one do but take her into the stall with me. Where I tend to my business, courtesy flushing and all, and praying no one associates the smells ruminating with me and my stall. But as would be my luck.. Clarissa, God Love that innocent angel, makes sure everyone in that very active bathroom knows every detail of what's going on in there..
Clarissa - "WeeWoo are you blowing it up"
Me- puts fingers to lips and make a shushing noise
Clarissa- are you blowing it up?
Me - Yes baby please shhhhh
Her- I gotta cover my nose
Me- still shushing and courtesy flushing
Her- WeeWoo I wanna go out of here
Me- Don't you dare open that door (serious praying is happening at this point)
Her- WeeWoo, I cant go to the bathroom with you anymore
Me- still shushing and courtesy flushing and trying to stay in the stall until i think no one is in the bathroom with us.. "ok baby Im sorry please shhhhh"
Probably one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, I am extremely bowel shy and this was pure torture for me..
But still kinda funny cuz God love that sweet innocent baby who didn't have a clue...

deer skinning season.. Meet the Family (this post is not for the squeamish..)

With the change in seasons a change in our lives has come too. Its deer season, and 2 of the children have jobs at the skinning shack for the season, and that means the others are spending a good bit of time at the skinning shack with them. They are just close like that.  Kelsey even tried her hand at deer skinning with a little instruction from my oldest son Chris.

Let me explain a little about my family of 11.. I personally only gave birth to 4 of these folks. There is truth in the saying they don't leave home, they just bring home more. This is the case with all 3 of my adult aged children, and I am sure at some point will become the case with my youngest as well, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

First we have Traci, Hannah, Chris, and Ryan, those are my 4 children that have been with me since birth. Then we have Clarissa and Paisley my oldest daughters 2 children who have also been with me pretty much since birth.

Ok, and now here is where it gets a little complicated. Chris moved in his two friends Alex, and Michael, Michael is now Traci's boyfriend, but no they do not sleep in the same bed, they are very respectful to us, and last but not least we have Kelsey, the tom boy, she can hold her own with the boys at anythingthey do, she has been on the fire department with them, she don't mind skinning deers, and wading rivers, she moved in with Hannah right after they graduated and is a wonderful addition.

So all of those, plus the grouch and myself makes for 11 folks under one roof.

(these boys are not cross dressers, this was just the only pic I have of Michael, this is the night they crashed the girls makeover party, not knowing what they were in for.. Aren't they pretty tho, and they were good sports about it too.)

Those people who say teens are worthless, and they are leeches, and what ever other grumpy old folk thing people say about the younger generation, they have never met these kids. Every one of them with exception to the three year old and the 5 month old, and their mama who has a full time job raising them, have jobs, go to work without protest and a couple of them even have 2 jobs, My Hannah has a job and starts college in a week.  These are good people that will make this world a better place some day, when they are done sewing a few wild oats.

Due to the deer skinning picture above I won't post recipes and food pictures on this post. I wish I had more pictures of all of them, or at least one picture of them all together to share but I don't. Ill have to work on that, and soon, because one of them leaves soon to move to Montana.

And now you know the family... #lifeontheplantation
