cat's are assholes, parent a dog...

Dogs know.. You can say waht you want, but dogs know.. Maybe not on the same level as human's know, but Im not always entirely convinced that we humans are superior in our level of knowing. Dogs have a certain gentle forgiving nature that we humans should be envious of and strive for.

My dog La-a (pronounced Ladasha and named for a story I read online once... click here for that story we thought was hillarious and earned our doggy her name.. ) anyway.. She knows.. When the little guy, the baby of our pack Namana (named for a muppet show song click here to see that song, my one year old grandbaby's favorite song, and the reason our little guy got his name... ) anyway again.. (dont you just love those stories within stories that get you side tracked? sorry) La-a knows that the only time she is chained is when little Namana is put outside to do his business. Otherwise she is allowed to roam the yard all free and willy nilly. So, when we bring Namana in and don't immediately let her off the chain she has a hissy fit. When he is outside and she is chained she never complains, but the split second he is brough back inside and she isnt released.. You better believe she lets you know it. Like right now. She is a bouncing, hopping, basket case. The only reason she hasn't been released yet is because the trash man comes this morning and Id just feel safer knowing she is chained, than worrying she is under a dropped dumpster. That she doesnt know yet. But she does know she is supposed ot be released already and she is none to happy for the delay.

Our darling Elis of 16 years passed recently, and he knew too. He was an inside boy, and a foot warmer, and a snack stealer, and if I had a nickle for every stray he welcomed, and helped train, Id have a pocket so full of nickles i may never be able to walk across the room again for the weight of them. He was a good anbd loyal boy too, and like all dogs, he just knew.

He knew when we were donw and would love up to any family memeber needing a good snuggle buddy, he was ever ready to help us love and raise anything we brought here from baby rabbits who's mom's died, to kittens, to other pups, he even helped us teach a pot bellied pig the ways of life around here. Thanks to Elvis, countless dogs, and a pig learned to sit, and stay and fetch and just basic social etiquette. He even tried his damnedest to teach teh stray kitten who showed up how to chase cars.. She never learned tho and found a new home before his lessons were over. Dogs just know.

La-a while she is a sweetheart and wouldnt hurt a fly is confined when little guy is out only because us as newbie dog parents didnt take into consideration when she was a baby that taking her across the road into the cow pasture where she could just run and go wild and be free, was also crossing a road, and when they are loose togetehr the first thing she as his older sibling wants to do is show him her old stomping ground, which leaves a small pup crossing not always but sometimes busy road with no knowledge that those cars coming at you at high rates of speed becasue we live in a rural area and on a straight cop free road will kill you, and quite possibly themselves. Fools too often think this is a race track, and id love to kick all theri asses cuz y dogs and grandbabies play here. But thats another story for another time.

This story is about dog's just knowing...

The really do, just know, if you set any sort of schedule for them, they just know, this is feeding time and if you are late im going to raise hell,,, this is the time when that little pest goes inside and im supposed to be set free and if im not im going to raise hell.. Its ok tho because dogs just know, and love unconditionally, and accept whatever life throws at them.

Cats on the other hand are just assholes.. I have two of them, and if they know anything at all, they aren't letting on.. Infact im a firm believer that cat's doont even need real names because they wont use them anyway. Thus my cats are named "Crazy cat" amd "Fluffy cat" and the cat before them was called "fat cat"

But dogs are awesome, and they just know stuff...
