10 awesome sensory bin ideas for grand kid fun

I wish I had known about sensory bins when my children were little. They are the neatest idea. But even though my brood is grown and the youngest of them started his first part time job today, I still have grandchildren and an excuse to play, and they are at just the right ages to enjoy a wide array of sensory bins and sensory tubs, The baby will enjoy things she can grab, and learning about cold, and warm, squishy and hard, and im certain about not putting things in her mouth. The toddler will enjoy excavating, and learning about fossils and treasure hunting like "Jake and the Neverland Pirates". They are lucky too, because I don't mind messy play, its all a part of growing up.

There are so many wonderful ideas for sensory bins. We did one using rice as the base for my grand daughters 3rd birthday party and it was a huge success. We filled a bin, a huge one like you slide under your bed with sweaters or wrapping paper in it. We filled it with rice and party favors and the kids had the best time searching through that rice for the fun little hidden treasures. The good thing about rice too is, it can always be rinsed and still cooked no matter how many little hands have been in it.

I wasn't actively blogging then so I didn't get a picture of it to share. But maybe we will do it again soon.

My two grand girls are three year and her little sister is 5 months and so I've made a few sensory bins with the oldest, some things we used are, googly eyes, pompoms, rice, stickers, and potting soil.. ok,, we didn't actually make a sensory bin with potting soil.. perse.. But we did have a bunch of it in the wheel barrow and we had a ball planting and playing in it out in the garden.

We haven't really done any fun learning activities with the youngest yet. She is just now getting to the right age to enjoy more things.. Until now her life has been about intake and output only. AKA eat and poop.. But its time for the fun with her to begin.  I have been googling ideas and I have a whole pile of ideas. Here are a list of my 10 favorites I cant wait to play in with them..
