valentines ideas

I am so not a valentines kinda gal. Ive never been about flashy gifts, I have always wanted a ring. But fact is I probably wouldn't wear it if I had it. Im a simple person, I don't do flashy. I dont wear one single piece of jewelry, I did have a St. Christopher that my mother gave me, and I loved that thing, mostly because she gave it to me. It was one of those rare mother daughter moments where I felt like we connected and she understood me. She rarely understands me. But I rarely understand her too so that special little moment meant something, and the st. christopher was a symbol of that. Turns out, as my luck would have it that the only material thing I tried to for an attachment to.. I ended up being allergic too and cant touch. I have it on a nail near me and I can look at it, and be near it. But I hadn't better touch it. But anyway... Ive lost track of what I was trying to talk about haven't I?

This is a good link i want to try this..

Sentiment is a beautiful thing. It is a lost thing now-a-days. Its so easy to go buy a gift card, give cash, let them buy their own gift. The sentiment is gone in all the giving holidays, and I dont really get it anyway. I participate, but I shake my head all the while. What are we REALLY doing?

Im gonna go out here and buy you a thing, and you go out here and you buy me a thing, and we will swap these things, and ill hope you like your new thing, and you will hope I like my new thing, but chances are we wont. Because its just things. Next year Ill regift this years new thing to another person and save a little cash, and they will not like it any more than I liked it, and The cycle will repeat itself, until quite possibly you end up with your own gift regifted to you several years down the line, and I wonder if you like it? I mean originally you did pick it out.

It makes as much sense to me as if, you give me 20 dollars and ill give you 20 dollars, and well... we both end up where we started. Why do we do this?

Im crazy though.. Just ask my husband..

The best gifts I ever got were from my grandmother.. One christmas she gave me coffee a big can. Now I know that doesn't sound like much, and it wasn't expensive and flashy. But it made me cry. She knew me. She knew what I liked, she had paid attention to me enough to know that coffee would be the perfect gift for me. I felt like it was a gift that truely spoke of our relationship. It was a gift I used.. One valentines day my hubby did just as great a job. He brought me Coffee, reese's cups, and slim jims. My three favorite things in the world. It wasnt a costy gift. But it spoke of our relationship. My hubby is a non coffee drinker, but he had paid enough attention to me that he knew what brand I drank and he aced it. He knew that I loved reeses and slim jims even though I rarely bought them for myself because they werent the least bit healthy and he indulged me. He knew me. I cried that time too..

The world would be a better place if more people gave like my hubby and my grandma... If more people gave from the heart, instead of the wallet life would be sweet.

For those who need the hoopla, and the tadoo, of it all.. here is a fine link for you to enjoy... Happy VD to you all.. HAHA i laugh when I say VD which you think means valentines day.. But maybe a little bit it also means venireal disease day. Cuz I bet more VD's are spread on valentines day than any other day of the year.. Peace out homies.....

Thank you cataract doctor

things I did today.. I cancelled that subscription to stamps.com that hubby has nagged me about for 6 months and that I always tell him i cancelled and never did.. Well I did that today.. I cleaned out the medicine cabinet It was loooong over due and I was too blind to read expiry dates so I threw away things that expired as far back as 2010... I wrangled a baby Tasmanian devil.. (some folks call her Clarissa, and i also had help) I learned that you can cook lettuce.. stir fry style and its good.. I also learned you can't bake it to dry it out because lettuce is just an asshole about it. I also did some insurance stuff I had been putting off... I'm a productive human being again.. Thank you cataract doctor...

I found this guy while on my cleaning adventure today..

I made him about 10 years ago.. Its my hubby.. Horny devil.. Note the nut sack chin and the horns cuz he's horny. Well anyway.. He is only half as horny now I don't know how his other horn broke but thank god it did... Maybe he will keep his cheating pecker in check from now on.

and this.. is why you should not try to make iceberg lettuce chips.. some parts are too dry some parts are still wet and some parts are stuck to my poor pizza pan..

so what did you do today?

fresh eggs vs store bought eggs

So much for that do nothing day. There is just too much to do.. Haha.. I was lounging around plucking at computer keys, searching stuff, and then I saw eggs, and remembered we have 2 real eggs in there.. Yes, you heard me 2 REAL eggs. Let me show you what I mean by real eggs...

Two of these eggs are store bought eggs, and two of these are eggs that our hens laid.. lay? layed? errr... Im not sure which is right.. But in any case two of these eggs are fresh outta the chicken. Can you guess which is which? and which I was referring to as "Real eggs"?

I have to wonder who was the first person to see this... this thing... fall out of the chickens back end and decided... "Oh hell yeah.. I think Im gonna eat that" How did they know it wasnt a constipated chicken with some weird doo doo?

Real eggs, are different in color, size, and flavor. If you ever have a "real egg" you wont ever be satisfied with store bought eggs again. There is a world of difference..

BTW the tow darker in color bigger plumper yummier looking eggs are the home grown eggs..

Fried chicken breast nuggets and crazy relatives

Fried chicken breast nuggets and crazy relatives, I don't know which I love more. We just got back from a walk with the crazy relatives and they let their crazy shine as expected. I am never disappointed with this crew. Someone will always open the can of crazy and everyone else will follow suit. Its great..

That was our walking adventure today. I sounds terrible, I was hesitant to upload videos of me breathing so heavily. But... Here is the thing. Ive had cataracts for a year now to the point i quit driving, and pretty much never left my house. I also have been a smoker. But I am making healthier choices now, I have had the cataract surgery and can see again and I venture out of my house now... I walk every day,  I have put down the cigarettes for an E-cig. I still smoke a few cigs every day. But mostly I e-cig... and I was running a little bit in these videos because seems I always get videos of their butts.. I wanted some face shots.. Little did I know the cold outside would fog my camera. But still you get the idea.. My families awesomeness still radiates through even a foggy lens.. and Ill just call it a tribute to my cataract days..

Now.. For the chicken breast muggets...

Here is that recipe...

I had boneless skinless chicken breast.. about 8 of them that I cut into cubes, and put into a bowl, there wasnt much fat on them but the little bits that there was I trimmed off.. No one wants a fatty chunk  on their chicken nuggets.. One the were washed, cut, put into a bowl I added salt and white pepper.. stirred them around to distribute the salt and pepper on all the chicken and added about 1 1/2 cups milk.
It looked like this.. I sat this aside for 1 hour stirring it around occassionally to coat all with milk mixture.

My breader was

1 cup flour
1 package hidden valley ranch green onion dip mix
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/3 tsp cayanne pepper
1/4 tsp of dill weed
1/4 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp thyme
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic
a pinch or 2 of curry, ground mustard and nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon pepper
I took the chicken pieces from the milk and coated in the flour mixture
and cooked in a preheated cast iron skillet for about 7 minutes per side on medium heat.
If you don't already know cast iron is the best for frying things...

they turned out looking like this...

Tummies were happy... Which makes me happy... Oh I fried them in a mix of half butter flavored crisco half vegatable oil.. Mostly because that is what i had available today but i think shortening or lard are better for frying things with a crust for some reason. But that is a personal choice thing...

Papas walking posse... Dirt road thugs...

dirt road livin'

Papa decided tht it would be good for us to go walking every day. Papa lives across the dirt road from us. So recently we have been walking every day. This is the posse... There is one more kid behind me and myself.

I wonder if passing cars think we are some kind of rednecked country bumpkin thugs..

We have a good time together.

The only one missing today was clarissa.. But as you see uncle Chris is on the phone with her mama trying to get her there in this picture. Everything is better with some Clarissa in it.

Thug life ya'll
hahahaha

That is our posse... Doing how we do....

Clarissa was late for the party.. But as soon as we got the call she was on the way.. We were almost home so papa just sat on the bank and waited for her to get there..

There she comes....

How sweet is that? Great grandpa's are a mess aren't they? She calls him " old papa" i dont know why.. she just decided that was his name.. Much like she just decided for herself that weewoo was my name.. There is a story to that one tho, and I will tell it to you another time..

Nothing like good friends and family and dirt road living...

Broccoli mac n cheese casserole with lebanon bologna

absolutely yummy...

Lebanon bologna is a favorite around here, but we have a hard time finding it. Finally we found it at a grocery store all the way across town. But its worth the trip. If you have never tried it you so should. The stuff in the containers where they sell hotdogs and bacon is not the same.. The good stuff can only be found in the deli freshly sliced.  I use it on sandwiches, and Sunday chicken recipe, and this broccoli mac n cheese casserole.. I put it in my cheese ball that everyone loves.

Here is the recipe for the above awesomeness...

Broccoli mac n cheese casserole

1 box elbow macaroni
1 1/2cupsplus 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1 cup broccoli florets (you can use the tough chewy stalks but i don't like too.. just a personal preference thing)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup milk
1 cup chicken broth or water
1/2 cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 stick of butter cut into cubes
add all ingredients to a greased casserole dish except 1/2 a cup of the cheese stir all these ingredients together add remaining half cup cheddar to top.. cover and bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees then uncover and bake 20 more minutes.. until cheese is brown.

you may need to adjust your liquid.. the raw noodles will absorb alot of the liquid you want to have enough liquid in your casserole to cover the noodles completely.
